પંડિત ઓંકારનાથ – બાલ ભારતી ટ્રસ્ટ

Pandit Omkarnath Thakur (1897–1967) was a legendary Indian classical singer, musicologist, and teacher belonging to the Gwalior gharana. Born in the Anand district of Gujarat, he was a prominent disciple of Vishnu Digambar Paluskar. Celebrated for his powerful voice, dramatic style, and deep emotional expression, he became the first dean of the music faculty at Banaras Hindu University (BHU) and was honored with the Padma Shri in 1955.Gujarati Descriptionપંડિત ઓંકારનાથ ઠાકુર (૧૮૯૭-૧૯૬૭) ગ્વાલિયર ઘરાનાના એક પ્રખ્યાત ભારતીય શાસ્ત્રીય ગાયક, સંગીતશાસ્ત્રી અને શિક્ષક હતા. તેમનો જન્મ ગુજરાતના આણંદ જિલ્લાના જહાજ ગામમાં થયો હતો અને તેઓ પંડિત વિષ્ણુ દિગંબર પલુસ્કરના અગ્રણી શિષ્ય હતા. તેમના બુલંદ અવાજ, ભાવવાહી ગાયકી અને શાસ્ત્રીય જ્ઞાન માટે તેઓ દેશ-વિદેશમાં જાણીતા હતા. તેઓ બનારસ હિન્દુ યુનિવર્સિટી (BHU) ના સંગીત વિભાગના પ્રથમ ડીન બન્યા હતા અને ભારત સરકાર દ્વારા તેમને ૧૯૫૫માં પદ્મશ્રી એવોર્ડથી નવાજવામાં આવ્યા હતા.
